The Global Superior MAD (Master of Art & Design Research Program) is an international postgraduate initiative dedicated to providing new theoretical frameworks, emerging methodologies, and forward-thinking approaches to art and design in the contemporary era.

ABOUT GSMAD
Since the emergence of new concepts in contemporary art and design, the field has expanded continuously, embracing a wide spectrum of disciplines including architecture, art, design, interior space, visual arts, stage design, aesthetics, technology, and virtual environments.
The program seeks to interconnect these areas of knowledge through a global academic network, bringing together professors and researchers from leading universities worldwide.

Overview
In today’s art and design landscape, the interaction between creative practice and manufacturing technology—especially within discussions of sustainability, communication, and development—has given rise to new definitions and operational models in the 21st century.
Focusing on the interrelationship between contemporary art, design, and aesthetics, GSMAD opens up new possibilities for exploration and experimentation, fostering the next generation of visionary professionals and researchers who will shape the future of global art and design.

Innovation-driven Foundation
Built upon innovation, the program provides new perspectives for the construction of contemporary art and design. Through experimental and conceptual design research, GSMAD cultivates critical and analytical thinking, strengthening students’ ability to observe, analyze, and design within contemporary contexts while enhancing their creative and professional development.
Experimental Thinking
Experimental exploration forms the core axis of the program — a fundamental capability for artists, designers, architects, and creative leaders seeking to drive innovation within today’s industries of art and design.

The curriculum integrates theory and practice, supported by analytical and developmental methodologies that connect artistic creation with urban and cultural transformation, providing students with applicable tools for both academic research and professional implementation.
Program Features
Our Education Philosophy
GSMAD offers two pathways:

Undergraduate Track (4 years) for applicants with a high school diploma.

Master Track (1 year) for applicants who already hold a higher education degree.

This structure allows students to engage with diverse artistic, architectural, and urban contexts during their training.

Students will obtain the official Master’s Degree from the University of Barcelona (UB), delivered in academic collaboration with ESCAC – School of Cinema and Audiovisuals of Catalonia.
ESCAC is a member of CILECT and GEECT, internationally recognized film and audiovisual education networks, ensuring that the degree meets the highest European academic standards.Yes. Outstanding applicants may receive full or partial scholarships provided by ZIYOU and partnering institutions.
GSMAD also offers internship placements and career support across a global network of collaborating organizations in Barcelona, Paris, Venice, New York, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

The GSMAD 2026–27 program marks the next stage in the evolution of the Global Superior Master in Art & Design, an advanced postgraduate initiative designed to integrate contemporary art, design, architecture, aesthetics, and emerging creative technologies into a globally connected academic environment.
