WE FOR:
About ZIYOU-MAD

Founded in 2012, ZIYOU-MAD is an art and design research project that brings together artists, designers, architects, filmmakers and cultural scholars from around the world.

As cities transform at unprecedented speed, especially in rapidly developing urban contexts, global urban development faces complex challenges that directly affect the quality of life of future residents. Within this frame, the relationship between contemporary art, design and traditional culture has shifted significantly in recent decades and has become a central topic of international academic debate. This evolution underlines the key role of multidisciplinary teams in connecting architectural design with modern urbanism, integrating craft with artistic practices, and aligning contemporary innovation with enduring cultural heritage.

Today, contemporary art is inseparable from social and cultural dynamics, which naturally link it to design, architecture and spatial practice. ZIYOU-MAD aims to cultivate skills and foster international cultural exchange around these questions. Its pedagogy combines analytical study with practical and experimental work, encouraging dialogue on design methodologies and avant-garde artistic strategies while remaining grounded in real urban transformation processes.

The concept of contemporary space remains open and constantly evolving. ZIYOU-MAD’s innovation and development span architecture, design, curating, visual arts, stage design, technology and virtual environments, seeking to interconnect these fields within a global perspective.

All educational, research and cultural activities within ZIYOU-MAD are driven by innovation. The program proposes new perspectives on the relationship between nature and humanity, contemporary art and urban space. Through experimental and conceptual design research, it nurtures critical and analytical thinking, deepening professional understanding of observation, analysis and construction in contemporary environments while opening new possibilities for social development.

Experimental exploration lies at the core of contemporary spatial design — a capability essential to creative education, artistic research, and the cultural innovation that defines leading art and design institutions today.

Through this ongoing practice, we aim to nurture the next generation of practitioners who can think critically, act responsibly and contribute to more open, diverse and sustainable urban futures.
